LID District Theme: “Trusting God in Difficult Times: Transforming Obstacles into Opportunities”



DISTRICT COUNCIL 2023

The Leeward Islands District Council will convene virtually in its 217th Annual Meeting and 2nd Virtual District Council, January 8 – 13, 2023. The delegates to Council will be the Superintendent, Rev. Mark Christmas, and Circuit Steward, Bro. Christopher McMahon. Rev. Stacia Williams-Christmas will attend as a District Ministerial Representative. Sister Tiffany Liburd will attend in her capacity as the LID Representative of the MCCA Youth and Young Adults Commission. Sister Sheleen Matthew will attend in her capacity as the District Treasurer. Our prayers are solicited for the President, Bishop Charles Seaton, the Officers, and members of the Council.

This week’s Devotionals will be conducted by the St. Croix Circuit.



DISCIPLE II - RESUMPTION

Participants are reminded that DISCIPLE II sessions will resume on Tuesday, 10 January 2023 at Ebenezer Methodist Church starting at 7:00 pm.



RESUMPTION OF STEELPAN PRACTICES

The Circuit Steelpan Band practices will resume on Saturday, 14 January 2023, at the Ebenezer Methodist Church Hall/Rev. Althea Jacobs Center starting at 10 a.m. Persons are encouraged to sign up in the month of January as there is room for more. It is the aim to have practices on an additional day as well. “Let all the instruments praise the Lord!”



CIRCUIT REVIVAL SERVICES – Save the dates

All members are encouraged to save the dates for a week of Circuit Revival Services, 5 - 12 February 2023 under the theme, "Refocus on Christ: Lord, Recreate Me". Preparatory activities for these services will take place in each congregation and zone during the month of January.

The theme song is "I Won't Turn Back” by William McDowell. Congregations are asked to feature this song in the weekly services throughout the month of January,so that members can familiarize themselves with it.

Preliminary activities during January include, Zonal Saturday morning prayer meetings, Community visitations, and a Training session at the Wesley Church Hall on Saturday,28 January, at 10:00 am, for all Preachers and other individuals who are interested in serving as Counselors for the services.


You are encouraged to participate fully as we make ourselves available for a fresh move of God in our lives.

CONDOLENCES, THANKSGIVING SERVICES AND EXPRESSIONS OF THANKS

We pray that the peace of Christ will dwell with all who are mourning at this time including:


Rev. Damien Hughes (Curacao) on the death of his grandmother, Sis. Frances Hughes. The Thanksgiving Service will be held on Friday, 20 January 2023 at the St. Johnston Methodist Church starting at 2:00 pm.

The Harmony Christian Bookstore advises that hard copies of “Our Daily Bread” devotionals will not be available for 2023 and apologises for any inconvenience caused.
