Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ.
Happy Children’s Lord’s Day to all of you, our lovely Children.
As you are aware, this month is being celebrated within the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis as Child’s Month. This has become an annual celebration.
This year, the Early Childhood Development Unit, a department in the Ministry of Education, celebrates its 36th Child Month celebration under the theme, “Wash Hands and Mask on Everyone, Keep Your Distance: Child Month 2021”. On 1st June, the Minister of Education, Hon. Jonel Powell gave a feature address, in which he highlighted the very critical role played by the Early Childhood Unit. This includes their playing a ‘leading role in the successful formulation and execution of procedures, to reopen public and private facilities in September 2020’
The Leeward Islands District of the Methodist Church, annually, celebrates Children’s Lord’s Day on the 2nd Sunday in June. As part of this celebration, a service was prepared on behalf of the district by, Rev. Ruth Pratt, Sub-Secretary for Children’s Ministry. The theme for this year’s Children’s Lord’s Day Service is, “I am God’s Kingdom Role Model.” .
When we reflect on both themes, we cannot help but think on the words found in Isaiah 11:6
“ 6 The wolf shall live with the lamb, the leopard shall lie down with the kid, the calf and the lion and the fatling together, and a little child shall lead them.”
I am sure for those of us who look at ZIZ television and view and listen on other media, would agree that the children of our federation, especially those from the Stepping stones Nursery are continuing to playing a leading role in helping to keep us safe from the Covid19 virus through their advertisements. In this and other ways you, our beloved and wonderful children are being ‘God’s Kingdom Role Model’ as we seek to take care of our body and stay healthy, preserving our body which is the ‘temple of the living God.’
Children, once again, Happy Child’s Month and Happy Children’s Lord’s Day to you all.
