Establishment and Operation

Methodist Radio Network (MRN) was established on May 1, 2013, as an internet-based outreach project promoting the Gospel of Jesus Christ and our Methodist heritage, serving Methodists at home and abroad and the wider community. Significantly, the Month of May is Methodist Heritage Month, and launching the station in May provided access to the whole world, giving modern day reality to John Wesley’s assertion, ‘The world is my parish.’
The station currently operates for 4 hours in the evenings, Monday to Friday, from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. and for 3 hours in the mornings, Saturdays and Sundays, from 9:00 a.m. to 12 Noon. MRN also operates outside of these hours to stream live Methodist and non-Methodist religious activity. MRN was the Recipient of the 2019 Ecclesiastical Affairs Outstanding Community Service Award.

Outreach

Since its inception, MRN has been in the forefront of linking its listeners with local and regional religious events. Every Sunday, the station carries live Morning Worship Services from one of the local Methodist Churches, and occasionally streams services and other activity promoting the message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ from Methodist Churches in the region. This includes live coverage of the of the annual Leeward Islands District Conference/Council Meeting and the Connexional Conference of the Methodist Church in the Caribbean and the Americas (MCCA).

Listenership

MRN’s programming is accessed by listeners in geographical locations across the globe, primarily in the Caribbean, Central America, United States, Canada, United Kingdom and Africa.

Programming

The station’s playlist includes (but is not limited to) live and pre-recorded content encompassing local and regional worship and evangelistic Services, devotional programmes, religious and community-oriented presentations and discussions, celebrations, historical/heritage reflections, youth, men’s and women’s perspectives, church notices and religious music. Coverage is also given to local ecumenical activity, including Services for the Lenten season, Independence Anniversary and National Prayer Services.
